IMHO, it all depends on what you're hponig to get out of blogging. For me, I wanted a place to sort some things out for myself, but also to do updates for family members, in addition to perhaps making contacts with other mommy-bloggers. Since it was never going to be a secret, my husband knew about it from the beginning, and has commented regularly. I think it was the second month that I also added him as an author.Since then I've e-mailed the URL to our church, and also told all Joy's therapists, her daycare lady reads and comments too. It will probably be in our Christmas letter this year... I would guess that well over half our readers know us in real life. But, if what you want out of blogging is a private place to vent and sort things out and seek support, that is totally legitimate as well. The "self-important" thing is waaayyy too narrow a view of blogging. (Even if I've given a pretty self-important answer here.)
