A grand b'day fete for Sarath

Sarath Kumar, a popular actor and a politician celebrated his birthday in Chennai on Friday. Fans from various parts of the State gathered at his residence to wish their hero.

Sarath Kumar, a former Rajya Sabha member, who quit DMK to join AIADMK, visited former Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa and sought her blessings.

Later, he gave away financial assistance to the needy and the handicapped. Sarath, the general secretary of Nadigar Sangam, awaits the release of his 100th film Thalaimagan, while his next Vaitheeswaran hits the floors on Saturday.

A villain-turned-hero Sarath is the front runner to succeed Vijayakanth as the president of Nadigar Sangam. K S Ravikumar launched him as lead hero in his project which was a success at box-office. There after K S Ravikumar worked with him in several projects which were box-office hits and also promoting him as one of the leading heroes in Kollywood in late 90's.
