Box Office - Veyyil shines

With New Year just round the corner, Kollywood is witnessing a host of movies getting released one after another. The last week saw S A Chandrasekhar's Nenjirukkum Varai, GV Film's Thirudi and all newcomer starrer Kadhalum Kattru Mara getting released. Half-a-dozen movies are ready to see the light of the day early next week. Dhanush's Thiruvilayadal Arambam hit the theatres on Sunday.

Bharath is enjoying a good run in Kollywood now. His films released in 299 screens totally (169 for Chennai Kadhal and 130 for Veyyil), and the actor managed to reach out to the interior parts of the State. Though both the movies opened big, the good reviews coupled with shrewd publicity skills by Shankar helped Veyyil sustain the big opening. Pasupathy's acting skills and G V Prakash's music score were acclaimed and both managed to bring audience to theatres.

Meanwhile, the Vishal starrer Sivapathigaram released in November put up a decent business. Irandu, which has Madhavan in the lead role, has reported good collections in the B and C Centres. The movie has Vadivelu and two heroines (Reema Sen and Anushka). Sivapathigaram carried a lot of pre-release hype. The musical score by Vidyasagar and a mass theme has helped the movie manage a decent crowd.

Among films released for Deepavali, Varalaru, Vallavan and E managed to complete a successful 50-day run last week. Arjun's Vathiyar and Srikanth's Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai did decent business as well.

The last weekend of November saw four movies anmely Iruvar Mattum, Nenjil, Mann and Idhu Kadhal Varum Paruvam getting released. All the films have managed average collections so far.

K Balachander's Poi, Sanjay Ram's Aadu Puli Aattam, Prashanth's Thagappansamy are among the few ready for release this week-end, coinciding with Christmas.
