Real life drama

Truth becomes stranger than fiction when real life imitates it rather than the other way around. Sonali Kulkarni saw a reality drama even more interesting than her reality show Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa when shooting for cinematographer-turned-director Mazhar Kamran's social satire Mohandas.

Sonali plays a television reporter doing an investigative story. The sequence required her to interview Sharbani Mukerji about her plight in a rice field. According to the script, while the interview is on, some people from the town charge towards the reporter and force her to abandon the interview and leave the place.

'We had chosen a particular field for this sequence and had taken due permissions,' says Mazhar. 'However, when we started the shoot, one of the owners of this field suddenly came rushing in and asked us to leave. Very patiently we tried telling him that we had taken prior permission and paid the necessary sum of money. But he started shouting and ordering us to scram. When I offered to pay money, he became abusive. That's how our shoot went and we eventually had to leave too and shoot elsewhere, but I told my reel-life goons to learn from this real incident!'

Mohandas also stars Nakul Vaid, Sushant Singh, Sharbani Mukerji, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Akhilendra Mishra and Govind Namdeo and is written by Uday Prakash.
