Yash-Manjari's FALTU wins National Award

At the recently announced 54th National Awards, Planman Motion Pictures' "Faltu" produced by Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri won the "Best Film on Family Welfare" award. This Anjan Das directed movie is based on the novel ' Ranirghater Brittanto written by celebrated Bengal author- Syed Mustafa Siraz.

Says Anjan Das, "Faltu was indeed a very difficult subject and I am really honoured that the jury decided to bestow it with the country's top honour. I am honoured and thankful to Planman Motion Pictures for producing such a challenging film."

Faltu's cast includes Best Actor- National Award - Soumitro Chatterjee, Yash Pandit, Manjari Phadnis and Best Actress - National Award- Indrani Halder. Produced and released by Planman Motions Pictures in February 2006, Faltu was lauded by the critics and loved by the audience ' a combination rarely achieved by a film. According to Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee, CEO ' Planman Motion Pictures, "Faltu is our commitment to good cinema with an original content. We are glad that the jury loved it and honoured it with the top award."

Incidentally, Bengal matinee idol, Prosenjit Chatterjee has been appreciated and has been awarded a special mention by the National Award Selection Committee for yet another Planman Motions Pictures' production ' Dosar which was directed by Rituparno Ghosh.

Dosar traveled across the world and was officially selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007. Konkana Sen Sharma had won the Best Actress Award for her performance in Dosar at the New York Film Festival in 2007. Prosenjit Chatterjee had won the Best Actor Award for Dosar at the prestigious Bengal Film Journalists Association Awards (BFJA). Faltu & Dosar together bagged 8 awards at the BFJA Awards including the Best Films, Best Actors, Best Director, Best Story, Best Makeup, Best Script and the Best Supporting Actor- Indrani Halder.
