Australia declare at 659 in 2nd Test

Australia declared their first innings at 659 for four midway through the third day in the second Test against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Captain Michael Clarke remained unbeaten on 329 with Mike Hussey not out 150 to give the home side an innings lead of 468 runs with more than two days' play remaining.

Clarke's knock was the joint 14th highest in Test cricket behind world record holder Brian Lara's 400.

Clarke batted for 617 minutes, faced 468 balls and hit 39 fours and one six.

He shared in a record unbroken 334-run partnership with Hussey, the most for any wicket for Australia against India.

India were bowled out for 191 on Tuesday's opening day.
