30 killed in Iraq attacks

At least 30 people were killed and dozens injured in a series of bomb attacks across Baghdad Sunday, according to Iraqi media and military sources.

The al-Yaqen news website reported that 18 people were killed in a car bombing in the al-Mansour neighbourhood, in the southwest of the capital.

Fifty-eight people were injured in the attack, according to Iraqi military sources.

Military sources also reported that on Aden square in the north of the city, two car bomb attacks killed 12 people and injured 36.

A bomb blast in another part of Baghdad injured three people.

A senior Iraqi intelligence officer was seriously injured when an explosive device planted in his car went off in Salhiya district, in central Baghdad.

The attacks come less than a month after the US military reduced its troop numbers to around 50,000, some three years after US troop levels peaked at around 168,000.
