Blast in Peshawar kills 12, injures 36

A remote controlled car bomb exploded near the Kohat bus depot on Thursday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 36 others.

Almost 15 cars were also badly damaged in the blast.

Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the area while the injured people were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where emergency has been imposed.The condition of five injured persons is critical.

According to the police 45 kilograms of explosives were used in the bomb.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the bomb blast at a bus stand in Peshawar that killed several people and injured many others.

The president in a message said the government was determined to eradicate extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and would not be deterred by such attacks on innocent civilians.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also strongly condemned the incident and directed the concerned authorities to ensure best medical treatment for the injured people.
