Shankar succeeds

Director Shankar, known for grandeur in his films, has proved that he is a successful producer too. The producer in Shankar has claimed a hat trick.

His 'S' Films, floated a few years ago, has so far made three films, which have made it big at the box-office. After the big success of Mudhalvan and Kaadhal, Shankar's Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi (directed by debutant Simbu Devan starring Vadivelu in the lead role) hit theatres last week. Within three days of its release, the film's opening has been better.

A thrilled Shankar, says, 'The secret lies in choosing right scripts. I listen to the scripts carefully. I don't make any compromise and pick the script which impresses me. Moreover there should be something different in it. It motivates me to go ahead and produce them.'

On the need to encourage new talent, Shankar says, 'Newcomers would have fresh thoughts. They have an urge in them to win. When I was searching for a break, it was producer K T Kunjumon, who spotted me and encouraged me to direct Gentleman. I am grateful to him. I feel it is my turn now to introduce new talents.'
