Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' is reigning supreme at the box office. According to reports, the movie has witnessed bumper collections last weekend in all the centers where the movie has been screened. The prospects of the movie in urban centers look bright for the coming months too.
The grandeur and the ten different roles of Kamal Haasan are the major USP of the film. With avid Kamal fans keen to watch the movie another time, the movie has managed to better the collections of other movies released recently.
Giving a close run to '€˜Dasavatharam'€™ is '€˜Santosh Subramaniam'€™. This feel-good film, which features Jayam Ravi and Genelia in lead roles has completed a 50-day run and is marching strong. A pet-theme, catchy music and stupendous performance by Genelia has done wonders for the movie.
Also in the hunt is the Vijay starrer '€˜Kuruvi'€™. The Ghilli team (Dharani, Vijay, Trisha and Vidyasagar) coming together raised tremendous expectations. However, mixed reviews for the film couldn't help its cause. The mass-heroism and punch dialogues uttered by Vijay managed to woo Vijay audience. The movie is still reportedly doing well in rural centers.
A typical commercial entertainer '€˜Pandi'€™, produced by Hitesh Jhabhak, is also in the race. The movie loaded with commercial elements and mother-son sentiments, is targeted at the B and C centre. It has reported decent collections across the State. The likes of '€˜Yaradi Nee Mohini'€™ and '€˜Kathavarayan'€™ are also in the fray.
In the coming weeks, the expected release of '€˜Bommalattam'€™, '€˜Vallamai Tharayo'€™ and '€˜Dhaam Dhoom'€™ may bring some changes in box office charts. But then folks, watch out, everything might go for a change this July when the Rajnikanth starrer '€˜Kuselan'€™ is expected to hit the screens.
