Vairamuthu's birthday celebrated as 'Poet's Day'

Tomorrow, July 13, is poet and lyricist Vairamuthu's birthday and has been celebrated as 'Poet's Day' for quite some years by the Vetriththamizhar Peravai. On this occasion, a deserving Tamil poet is honored every year. For this year it is poet Sirpi Balasubramaniam and he'll be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-

Vairamuthu, an ardent admirer of Tamilnadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi would visit him and seek his blessings. After that the numero uno amongst Tamil lyricists would travel to the Marina beach and garland the statues of all poets there. Later in the evening, Vairamuthu would take part in a meeting organized by the Vetriththamizhar Peravai in Trustpuram.
