Day 3 -- A day of Telugu films

The enthusiasm did not wane among the children as they came along in large numbers to watch the film. Most of them were from government schools and the experience of watching films at Prasad'€™s was an added bonus apart from watching world-class international children'€™s films. There was the film Valo, which is based on a true life story of an old man who wrote diaries about his childhood. A wonderful film on the lines of a Charles Dickens'€™ film, it combines history, Finnish culture and a social message. The filmmaker too has got natural performances from her team of boys, making it a wonderful viewing experience. Then there was Hide n Seek, a film by Vinod Ganatra. Shot in Ladakh, it captures the serene beauty of the Himalayas.

But today'€™s main highlight was the two Telugu films. Amulyam was a film by Akkineni Kutumba Rao, who is known to make children'€™s films. It focused on a beautiful relationship between a grandmother and her child and the importance of understanding and enjoying nature. The little girl Varshini put in a good performance and the child audiences literally mobbed her after the show. She too was obliging, giving interviews and signing autographs.

Then there was the young team of I am Famous. They too had a good response and were naturally elated. This too was a totally local production.

So, in all, it was a good day for Telugu filmmakers of children'€™s cinema. Telugu industry directors Tammareddy Bharadwaja and Sivanageswara Rao too came in to watch a couple of films.
